In my business, I get asked for restaurant recommendations frequently. And I frequently recommend Saltus River Grill.

Some people say Saltus is not quite "Beaufort," that it has kind of a big city flair. And it does. And we say, what's wrong with a restaurant NOT being like every other restaurant in town?

Saltus sits right off Bay Street, and overlooks the Beaufort River, so right off that bat you've got the location going for you. Many guests choose to wile away some pre-seating time at the restaurant on the Sonoma-style deck. This is the first and probably only Sonoma-style deck I've ever knowingly been on,  so don't ask me what makes a deck Sonoma-style.

On a chilly night, restaurant staff members might even fire up the outdoor fireplace, which really makes for a great experience.

I am impressed with the commitment to quality at Saltus.

A few years ago, the much-anticipated Saltus River Grill opened, about a year later than expected. In a time when some restaurants appear to close the doors, change the name one night, change the name, and then reopen the next day under a new name, owner Lantz Price wanted to make sure everything was just right.

He got it right.  With its sizzling contemporary seafood grill, and views of the Intracoastal Waterway, Saltus is unique to downtown Beaufort. The bar is vibrant, and the menu is continusously evolving.

Saltus River Grill is a unique and exciting restaurant in historic downtown Beaufort, SC. From steak to seafood to sushi to oysters, Saltus is a Beaufort original.
