BURTON

Burton is located west of Beaufort, in the area close to Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Beaufort. Because of Burton's proximity to MCAS Beaufort, many Marines and their families choose to reside in this nice community. In addition to being influenced by MCAS Beaufort, Burton is also heavily influenced by our myriad waterways, and boasts some of Northern Beaufort County's nicest waterfront real estate, which has been put to very good use in neighborhoods like Battery Point, Habersham, and Islands of Beaufort. These neighborhoods, and others, have done a great job of incorporating waterfrontage, so that all residents of the neighborhood are able to enjoy the water.
As is the case with just about every part of Beaufort, Burton boasts of convenient boat ramps and fishing access. In fact, a portion of "old" Highway 170 was converted into a fishing pier when the new 4-lane bridge was open several years ago.

Although not an incorporated area, Burton has it's own identity as a semi-rural area of Northern Beaufort County.
