You won't find too many places like Beaufort, SC. The earliest European visitors to the area just a few decades after Christopher Columbus. Through it's long and storied history, no fewer than six flags have flown over this area -- Scottish, British, Confederate, French, United States, and Spanish.
Beaufort, SC itself is approaching it's 300th anniversary, in 2011. Three hundred years!! There is so much history in this area.
**On Hunting Island State Park, sits an historic lighthouse, at the most visited state park in South Carolina. It is the only lighthouse in the state open to the public. Hunting Island State Parksits astride the Atlantic Ocean 18 miles due east of downtown Beaufort.
**Just 45 minutes to the south is the antebellum masterpiece of Savannah, GA, which was just featured just featured by Yahoo!Travel as one of America's "Prettiest Towns." A little more than an hour to the north is Charleston, SC, recently named by Southern Living Magazine as the Best Southern City.
**Beaufort itself has been featured on numerous "best of" lists, which can be found at the Beaufort, SC Chamber of Commerce's website.
